LSS Bronze Cross/Intermediate First Aid Jul 19-25

36 hour Certification Course
The Lifesaving Society’s Bronze Cross begins the transition from lifesaving to lifeguarding and prepares candidates for responsibilities as an assistant lifeguard. Candidates strengthen and expand their lifesaving skills and begin to apply the principles and techniques of active surveillance in aquatic facilities. Bronze Cross emphasized the importance of teamwork and communication in preventing and responding to aquatic emergencies. Bronze Cross is a pre-requisite for advanced training in the Society’s National Lifeguard and leadership certification programs.
Pre-requisite(s): Bronze Medallion and Standard First Aid CPR-C & AED.
Certification Currency: 2 years from the date of certification.
Intermediate First Aid provides comprehensive training covering all aspects of first aid and CPR. This course is for those who want an in-depth understanding of first aid such as: medical/legal aspects, spinal injuries, environmental injuries, bone and joint injuries, abdominal and chest injuries, burns, and medical emergencies. Includes CPR-C and AED certification and is Alberta Workplace approved.
Prerequisite(s): None
Certification Currency: 3 years from the date of certification
Recertification: Attend Lifesaving Intermediate First Aid Re-certification course within the three (3) year currency period

Note:

Participants should bring extra towels, warm clothes, pens and paper and snacks/lunch. Certifications are considered current for up to 2 years. LSS Bronze Cross must be recertified in order to remain current. Pre-requisites for this course are Bronze Medallion (need not be current), please notify the Town of Devon Community Pool if you have a current Alberta workplace approved Intermediate First Aid. Intermediate First Aid Certifications are considered current for up to 3 years. These courses must be recertified before expiry in order to remain current.
